Proposed Taliban By-Law Defeated
Mar 19th, 2007 by Spider
Update: The Proposed Bylaw was defeated at first reading: That by the way is rare in its self, it has only hapened two or three times before.
After the defeat of the C.A.P.C.S proposed Bikini Bylaw last evening, on March 19 2007. Ald. Cathy Smith in a Chat news interview, stuck to the C.A.P.C.S. rhetoric. That this proposed Bylaw was only to protect the children. While still providing zero evidence or proof, that children in Medicine Hat, are in danger from the way some as yet undifined Magazines are dispayed in our local stores. Magazines that C.A.P.C.S and only C.A.P.C.S deem Pornographic. Ald. Cathy Smith also stated this is not over, and hinted it may become an election issue. So folks at the next election, make sure you know who your voting for. It is expected that C.A.P.C.S may field some sleepers.
Dear Ald. Smith. As a Tax payer I would rather C.A.P.C.S proved that children are in harms way, in our Cities Conveniance stores. Before you throw more of our money away, and please, this time. If you wish to present studies to Council to muddy the waters. At least use a real Psychologist not a hobbyist, and use a professional to run your surveys. Someone who will use realist and approved guidelines, not make up as we go along rules.
That proposed Bylaw was another bunch of Lawsuits waiting to happen. If you cannot prove harm, and you have not. How can you use it as a basis for a Bylaw?
I think I speak for a lot of concerned citizens in thanking Bill Cocks, Julie Friesen, John Hamill, Darren Hirsch and Harv Speers, who saw through the smoke, mirrors and trash that is floating around the board rooms of City Hall. Voting so decisively to kill it at first reading should act as a signal to C.A.P.C.S to stop this nonsense. Sadly that will not be the case.
